To all billiard enthusiasts in China, March must have been a month of pure enjoyment. Apart from being able to get their hands on the latest branded billiard equipment from all over the world at the 8th Guangzhou International Billiards Exhibition (GBE2014), they were also able to experience top quality snooker matches. From coverage of the Welsh Open to live matches from 3 main World Snooker events taking place in their homeland, all played on Strachan snooker cloth.
GBE2014 was attended by nearly 11,000 local and overseas visitors from the billiard industry. The WSP Textiles sales team reported busy trading conditions at its booth. It was entirely appropriate that on the second day of the GBE, during the final frame of the Welsh Open, another iconic figure, Ronnie O’Sullivan produced a maximum 147 on Strachan cloth in his 9-3 victory over Chinese favourite Ding JunHui.
